Welcome to visit the HKIOA website! The new Committee took up the duties immediately after the 13th AGM on 15 March 2006. Looking ahead into the coming months, our activity schedule will continue to be tight as usual. We will provide more opportunities for members to share and exchange their knowledge and view on various acoustic matters. We will continue to promote the knowledge and practice of acoustics and foster continuous professional development and to support our members and local professionals keeping abreast of the latest developments in the acoustic profession.
We have signed an agreement on publication of the "Technical Acoustics" journal with Shanghai Institute of Acoustics for two years for the period Jan 2006 - Dec 2007. This journal is now published quarterly. Ir. N.C.Cheung and I are the members of the Editorial Board for two years. Our members and acoustic professional are encouraged to submit articles to the journal to share their knowledge of acoustics.
In the last few months, we organized various activities including the first round of the certified HKIOA short course on road traffic noise measurement. Theoretical sessions as well as practical sessions were provided in this course. It aims at providing the local industry with updated skills and techniques required for road traffic noise measurement. The second round of the certified course will be coming soon. In the coming months, we will organize more seminars and technical visits. A half- day seminar on the road traffic noise problem in Hong Kong will be held on 8 May 2006.
